tips for hanging your art

hanging art can be daunting!

Does your art sit forever, waiting for you to find the perfect place to hang it? Or do you end up with multiple holes in the wall looking for the perfect height? (hint- it’s lower than you think!)

here are some tips & tricks

have a plan.

  • Have an idea of where you want your artwork BEFORE breaking out the hammer or drill

consider the scale of your artwork.

  • Make sure your artwork is big enough to make an impression

  • If your artwork is smaller, consider hanging it in groups for extra oomph

don’t hang your artwork too high.

  • Hang your artwork at eye level so you can enjoy it without cricking your neck

  • 57-60 inches from the floor is the magic spot!

  • Consider frame style, size and colour. Are you after a uniform look or an eclectic mix of frames?

  • Don’t space frames out too much. 2-3 inches between frames will keep the group looking cohesive

  • Use the middle of the whole group of frames as your eyeline centre point to get your height

Play with scale and shape

make sure you’re using the appropriate hardware.

  • Nobody wants their walls raining frames in the middle of the night! Make sure the hardware you are using can hold your artwork safely

  • Be careful when using removable hanging strips. Make sure they adhere to your frame surface well and that they can hold the weight of your frame. Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions for the strongest adhesion and best results!
